Maxine V. Quinn

Our beloved mother, Maxine Violet Quinn, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013. She was born in Omaha, N.B., where she had a successful career as a professional singer. At the height of her career, she performed on the Johnny Carson Show. She gave up that career to marry the love of her life, her "ever lovin," Johnny Quinn and to raise their three girls, Melody Hernandez, Shayna Quinn and Johnna Quinn. The family moved to Las Vegas in 1966 and made it their permanent home. She later became a grandmother to Desiree Famageltto and Eric Hernandez and even got to enjoy being a great-grandmother to Ava Famageltto. Along with being a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she kept busy with volunteer work for B'nai B'rith, Hadassah and Temple Beth Sholom, just to name a few. She also sang for various charity events and special parties, but her biggest legacy was work she did for the Lord. After accepting Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior in 1977, she put her energy into studying the Bible and sharing her faith, love and the saving grace of Jesus with those around her. She will forever be remembered as a soul winner for the Kingdom of God, where she now lives in a mansion made especially for her on streets of gold. She was the life of the party, the bell of the ball, the feisty red-headed matriarch and, most of all, the love of our lives. Although our hearts are broken, our lives go on if only to carry on her amazing legacy. We will gather at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. to honor and celebrate her life. Please join us as we pay tribute to her in laughter and in sorrow, but most of all in love.
