Our dear Mother and Grandma, 90, passed away on January 10th, 2023 here in Las Vegas while at home. Doña Rosinda was known as Rocha to her contemporary family, as well as Yaya or Yayita by her grandchildren. She lived in Colombia and the USA. Yayita was born May 12, 1932, in Medellín Colombia. She was married to John Prada Nuñez with whom she had six beautiful children.
María Rosinda was a woman who wore many hats as she was a true pioneer for her family. She was an entrepreneur, investor, broker, and accountant. Moreover, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She came to New York in 1960’s. She came here to pave the way and provide a better life and opportunities for the family.
Doña Rosinda was a renown storyteller, lover of Mariachis, animals, and solitaire. She would take immense care of her health and was proud watching her children and grandchildren grow.
Doña Rosinda was an elegant woman who immediately earned the attention and respect of everyone in the room. She had an exuberant and intimidating presence. Yet, she would soften you up while engrossing you in her renown stories while having you gasping for air dying from laughter in stitches.
Everything she did was with style, grace, and elegance, except when she began telling, even retelling somehow even better than the prior time, her infamous stories. This is because this elegance was transformed into a courageous battle-hardened frontline soldier not even rivaled by Ares. Doña Rosinda was even known to be able to tell your own story better than you could.
Many of the people in her life owe their stories to her, as her family has found success in myriad ventures and disciplines, from business owners and artists to medical doctors, dentists, and scientists; there is no lack of success to be found that traces back to her tenacious work ethic, loving support and family values, and creativity to trailblazing paths not yet taken. In other words, many first-time entries to different disciplines and industries became the norm after being molded by the rare combination that Doña Rosinda possessed of creativity and unbounded work ethic.
