Margaret Michalec, 76, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 after a brief battle with Alzheimer's dementia. Margaret was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois on September 9, 1945; the third child of Martha and Alfred Buchanan. When she was five her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She grew up and lived most of her life in Las Vegas and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Bishop Gorman High School. After graduation she attended Mercy College of Nursing in San Diego, California and received her license to be a Registered Nursing. She returned to work in Las Vegas at Sunrise Hospital. Shortly after she also met and married Timothy X. Michalec on April 20, 1968 and together they had four children of which they were supportive and proud. They were married for 24 years and even after their divorce in 1992 they remained close and were always good friends. After spending much of her time in Las Vegas raising her family and caring for her parents, Margaret moved to Beaver, Utah, a place where she could get away from the bright lights and big city and connect more with nature. She designed a simple home, oversaw the build, and cultured a place of peace where she could relax. She lived in Beaver through the end of 2018 after her Alzheimer's diagnosis. Margaret then made one final move to the state of Colorado where she lived and was supported in an Assisted Living and Memory Care Community. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Martha and Alfred Buchanan, her sister Louise Handlin, and her ex-husband Timothy Michalec. She is survived by her four children: Kathy Michalec, Christina (Kyle) Lee, Paul Michalec, and Theresa Michalec; four grandchildren: Alexis Frazer, Michael Frazer Jr. Adrianna Lee, and Curtis Lee; and her siblings Jim, Ginger, Dick, Trudy, and Tom. Margaret will be interred at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery later this year resting peacefully next to her parents after a blessing of her ashes.
