The eldest of eight siblings, he was born on February 10, 1926 in the province of Quezon in the Philippines, to Antonio and Felipa Marquez. He married Ofelia Lim on June 22, 1968.
Luis received a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Mapua University in the Philippines. He worked for the Department of Transportation in the Philippines for a few years, then worked in Ghana on a three year contract, before coming to the United States in 1967, working as a train inspector in Chicago, and finally working for the GATX Corporation until his retirement in 1986.
Luis loved to watch sports, especially basketball, football, and boxing. He enjoyed working on home projects, and playing mahjong and poker with his family and friends.
He is survived by his brother, Rudy; his two sisters, Monsie and Lourdita; his wife, Ofelia; his two sons, Mark and Christian; and his three grandchildren, Elena, Justin and Sofia.
Visitation services will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, June 21, 2019 at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery. Funeral service will be at 9:30am, June 22, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial to follow the funeral service at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery.
