Luanne Baker

Luanne Baker (72), lovingly called “Ama”, of North Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on October 30th, 2023.

She was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Stanley Chap and Florence Chap (Kraft). She was brought up in the Catholic faith and attended elementary school at St. Joseph’s school in Moorhead, MN, and then attended Shanley High School in Fargo, North Dakota. She graduated in 1969 and later that year met her husband, David.

Luanne attended Moorhead State University and graduated in May 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business (Summa Cum Laude). On June 9th, 1973, Luanne and Dave were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They made their home in West Fargo, North Dakota until career paths took them to Homer Township, Illinois in 1985 and then Owasso, Oklahoma in 1999.

Luanne worked as a retail manager for many years and prior to retiring, worked as a customer service manager. Luanne took pride in her work, was attentive to detail and was a passionate leader for the companies she worked for.

After retiring, Luanne and Dave moved to North Las Vegas in 2008. Luanne enjoyed spending time with her family and spent countless hours cooking, baking and wrapping presents to show her love. Luanne enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Ama will forever be missed and loved.

Luanne was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Florence, and is survived by her husband, David, her children; Eric, Jenny and Amanda; and seven grandchildren.

Service Details are as follows:

Requiem Mass on Friday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church located at 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas.

Interment ceremony at 1:00 PM at Palm Northwest Cemetery located at 6701 N. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas. Lunch to follow in the Palm reception area.
