Lowell Murray Mason, 84, passed away in Henderson, June 15, 2013, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born in Montevideo, Minn., to loving parents, Evelyn (Brown) and Leslie B. Mason Sr. Lowell served in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician third class and was accepted into the Naval Reserve. He graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in economics and was a running back on the football team. In 1952, Lowell married June Myran, the love of his life, and they began their family. Lowell started with a career in banking, working in Montevideo, Litchfield, St. Cloud, and then Austin, Minn. ln 1963, they moved to Coon Rapids, Minn. Lowell then worked 29 years for Lutheran Brotherhood lnsurance Company (now Thrivent), located in Minneapolis. He studied nights and became a chartered life underwriter. For a short time, Lowell was a general sales agent in LaCrosse, Wis. He retired from Lutheran Brotherhood in 1992. Lowell served his church and community and was active in local politics. He was treasurer of Advent Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids. ln 2003, Lowell and June left Minnesota for Henderson, joining Lowell's brother, David, and his wife, Joan, in warmer surroundings. They were married for 60 wonderful years. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife, June. He is survived by his brothers, Leslie B. Jr. (Ardis) and David (Joan); daughter, Christine (Rick) Christensen; sons, John (Martha) Mason and Tim (Yuriko) Mason; Chris and Rick's children, Sarah Christensen, her daughter, Addisyn, and Erin (Matt) Pascarella, their sons, Ayden and Antonio, and by Tim and Yuriko's sons, Andrew and Kai. A private memorial service is pending.
