Born on November 2, 1942, in Manila, Philippines, Leida was the daughter of Romualdo and Magdalena Delmundo. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. On June 28, 1968, Leida married Ludovico Mateo, embarking on a life filled with love and adventure. Together, they traveled the world during his 26-year career in the Navy, raising three children: Lorraine (Matthew Tolliver), Lenard (Patricia), and Lee John. Their family was blessed with nine grandchildren: Alex, Lauralee, Jacob, Mateo, Isabella, Catarina, Quinnlee, RyleeAnn, and Leonardo. Leida is also survived by her siblings: Melinda (Victor Poliarco), Edgar (Alma), Amelia Reyes.
In 1980, Leida made a significant career change, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She went on to enjoy a successful career as Chief Financial Officer in both Southern California and Las Vegas.
Leida was a deeply spiritual woman, and her Catholic faith was at the heart of her life. She was an active member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, both of which she held dear. In addition to her faith, Leida had a wide range of passions. She loved traveling, shopping, music, and BINGO. But most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Her generosity knew no bounds—whether sharing her Bingo winnings with her siblings or giving extra tips to housekeepers, callers, and staff, Leida’s kindness was felt by all who encountered her.
Leida’s legacy is wisdom, kindness, generosity, love, faith, and service to others. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service for Leida will be held Monday, December 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89052. A committal service will occur Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 12:40 PM to 1:10 PM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005.
