Kenneth J. Thomas was born March 24, 1937 to Frank L. and Marjorie Thomas in Warren, Arkansas. He was the first son of 4 boys and 5 girls. Three brothers, Bobby, Franklin and Hersey Thomas. Two sisters, Willie Ann Thomas and Nora Jean Hines all preceded him in death.
Kenneth left Arkansas and moved to Las Vegas in 1953 where he attended Las Vegas High School. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Later, he was united in holy Matrimony to Alberta Anderson on September 9th, 1968. To this union two children were born Adrianne Thomas and Baby Thomas. He worked several jobs around the city before becoming an entrepreneur (Desert Inn, Anderson Dairy and J.W. Castello Beverage). He owned several businesses in the community to provide for his family (Hi-View Market, Berta’s Lounge). In 1998 he retired from Nevada Test Site as a truck driver. He was also a part of the Teamster Union Services.
He received Christ into his heart at an early age in Arkansas. He then united with Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church after moving to Las Vegas.
He was called to rest on Thursday, September 8th 2016 surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife Alberta Thomas, two sons Bruce (Yolanda) Thomas, Bernie (Maria) Thomas, three daughters, Adrianne Snipes, Christina Maston and Joan Courtney. Sisters, Nettie (Bill) Holloway, Janet Washington, Martha Sleigh, Annie (Ken) Sting. Thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-laws and many special friends.
