He was born on April 3, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to Elizabeth and William Sokol.
He had a loving marriage of 59 years to his soul mate Mary Ann Sokol.
Ken attended the The University of Missouri where he joined the Zata Beta Tau fraternity. After graduation he fulfilled his ROTC commitment in Biloxi, Mississippi as a Lieutenant in the Air Force.
Ken started out his successful retailing career as a coat buyer in St.Louis. The May Company recruited him to Los Angeles where he was honored to work his way up to President/CEO of that company from which he retired in 1991.
He was a avid collector of many things…coins, stamps, Americana kitchenware, pottery and pressed glass and antiques. He took great pride when he showed off his completed collections.
Ken was a great athlete in his youth and he continued his love of sports all through his life.
He is survived by his two children and step son, Kennth Michael Sokol and Kathryn and Alan Van Vliet, and his grand-daughter, Taryn Weslie Van Vliet.
The family requests that any donations be sent to charities that aid Veterans.
A private family ceremony will be held in his honor.
