Karine Ng was the essence of warmth; adventure; duty; style; creativity; and beauty. She left this earth far too early at the age of 38 on March 12, 2018 in her adopted hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, a city that reflected her spirit and energy - fabulous, exuberant, and full of light. Born on February 23, 1980 in Santa Clara, California, Karine completed a family of five that included her two loving parents and two older sisters. She attended Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California and, thereafter, traveled across the country to attend Cornell University and New School University in New York where she graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Parsons School of Design. During her time at university, Karine joined alpha Kappa Delta Phi and was fondly known to her sorority sisters as “Angel Baby.”
From a young age, Karine had a keen eye for design. She blossomed into a trend-setting fashionista who relished bargain hunting and perfected the art of finding the best deal on clothes, food, vacations, and pretty much everything and anything. She was a BOGO queen. After completing her undergraduate studies, Karine remained in New York where she lived for 14 years. In New York, she earned a Pet Product Design & Marketing certificate from the Fashion Institute of Technology, was a licensed real estate agent, and an entrepreneur. As the “paw-prietor” of Central Park Pups, she merged her creative fashion sense with the love for her pet Chewie by creating the Hidden Harness, a chic wearable product for dogs. She filled her home in New York with love and laughter by hosting countless parties, themed celebrations, and sumptuous feasts for friends and family. Karine delighted in every opportunity to design or don a costume; it was a rarity that she ever missed dressing up for the annual Halloween parade, Renaissance Faire, Comic Con, or other themed soiree.
When Karine moved to Las Vegas, she drove cross-country in her eco-friendly Prius because she took great pleasure in road trips and exploring the outdoors. She traveled fearlessly and often. Karine was a daring diva who studied abroad in Paris; backpacked through Europe; climbed Machu Picchu; camped; hiked; cruised; surfed; kayaked; paddle boarded; river rafted; and zip-lined, among her many expeditions and adventures. Karine lived life to the fullest. She loved wholeheartedly and passionately.
In Las Vegas, Karine obtained her real estate license, property management license, and professional staging design certificate. She also started a second business in the real estate industry, again combining her love of creativity and design with her professional real estate experience. Karine enjoyed living in Las Vegas for the last 3 years, immersing herself in shows; concerts; nature; zany activities; starting new, innovative projects; more costumes; and hosting friends and family. As a devoted and dutiful daughter, she spent much time with her parents in Las Vegas helping them with their real estate projects and everyday needs, and sharing her enthusiasm for the city by finding them the best restaurant deals and entertainment options. She was fiercely loyal to her sisters and friends, and a shining rock star who gave her all to everything she did.
To quote Karine’s favorite movie and book, The Princess Bride: “Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.” Her family and friends’ true love for Karine will endure. Karine’s exceptional spirit is carried on by her parents, Patrick and Bette; her sisters, Karen and Klara (spouse Scott); her beloved Shih Tzu Chewie; and her extended family of relations and friends from all walks of her rich and colorful life.
