June Virginia Mason, 81, of Henderson, passed away April 23, 2012, in Las Vegas, following a courageous and quite successful battles with colon and then lung cancer. She was born in Spring Grove, Minnesota, to loving parents, Clarence and Clara Myran. June had a sister, Yvonne, 10 years older. She grew up in southern Minnesota.
June was a devout spouse and vigilant mother. She was also a lover of animals and her dogs. She was extraordinary in house decorating and fashion. Her collection of friends were of extreme priority and she enjoyed playing bridge and birthday party gatherings.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were special to her. No one seemed to be spared from her loving manner, grace and wit. Her humor was original, with unparalleled verbal expressions of joy, approval or greeting. As one friend said, "we have lost an angel." After raising a family with husband, Lowell Mason, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, with a brief stay in LaCross, Wisconsin, they left Minnesota for Henderson, for warmer weather, in 2003. They enjoyed retirement in new surroundings and found new friends. They were married for 60 wonderful years.
June is survived by her husband, Lowell; daughter, Christine (Rick) Christensen; sons, John (Martha Frey) Mason and Tim (Yuriko) Mason; Chris and Rick's children, Sarah Christensen (and her daughter, Addisyn) and Erin (Matt) Pascarella (and their son, Ayden), and by Tim and Yuriko's sons, Andrew and Kai.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV.
