Julie Johnson, 75, of Las Vegas, NV passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 9 in her lovely home. Julie was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Eugene and Agnes Brandise on October 13, 1946. She was the fourth of their six children. The Brandise family has resided in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1955. Julie attended Bishop Gorman High School and graduated from Las Vegas High School and continued her education at UNLV in art and writing. She pursued a successful career in Cosmetology. The highlights of her career were working at the International Hotel and opening her own salon – Hair Expressions on Flamingo Road in the late 1970s.
Julie married James David ‘Dave’ Johnson on July 4, 1969. While their marriage ended in divorce, they were the loves of each others’ lives and created a tightknit family with their children Lori , Davy, and Shelli. Her role as their mother was her highest priority. There was nothing Julie loved more than being with her children and her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was celebrating all of their accomplishments and supporting them in their challenges.
She cherished her relationships with her parents, brothers, sisters, and her many nieces and nephews and their children.
Each day of her life was filled with color, creating, designing, writing, dancing, singing, and caring for others. She was a lifelong learner and continued to learn new things and take art, writing, dance and tai chi classes. She was not intimidated by technology…she used it to share her love each day with her family and friends in creative text messages.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Agnes Brandise.
She is survived by her children—Lori Johnson LaBarbera, David Johnson (Jen), Shelli Johnson Bryan (Marvin), her grandchildren—Ryan, Tanner (Chloe), Brynley, Ellie, Bridger, Kate, Conner, Ryder and Aynsley, and her siblings—Harry Brandise, Joe Brandise, Mary Potter, Betsy Hunt and Toni Morrow.
Visitation will be Friday, August 19, 8:30am and funeral services will begin at 10am at Palm Eastern Mortuary at 7600 S Eastern Avenue with interment immediately following.
