Joyce Darlene Johnson, age 94, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and friendship. Born in 1930, she met the love of her life, Ivan Monroe Johnson at the age of 19, and they were married in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Together, they began their journey, welcoming their first son, Jeff, in 1950 before moving to the San Fernando Valley in California, where their second son, Brian, was born in 1956.
In the late 1950s, Joyce worked for Lockheed Martin, later transitioning to a meaningful career with the Los Angeles School District. She served as an administrator and eventually became a beloved high school librarian, fostering a love for learning in many young lives. Even in her later years, she found joy working staying active and engaged well into her 80s.
Joyce cherished her family above all else, and sadly her youngest son Brian recently passed away and has joined his mother and father. She is survived by her son, Jeff, seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way. She was also very close to her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart. Her life was dedicated to keeping the family connected, never missing a birthday or family milestone. Her passion for preserving family history and nurturing relationships across generations will be fondly remembered by all.
She had a love for adventure and especially enjoyed her visits to Park City, Utah, where she never missed celebrating the 4th of July. Her time in Henderson, Nevada, was filled with meaningful friendships. She cherished luncheons with the Ethel M group, her Saturday trips to Green Valley with her dear friend Joan for cream of mushroom soup, and all the laughter they shared while gambling together.
Her neighbor Debbie held a special place in her heart, offering companionship and support through the years. The Johnson family will forever be grateful for Debbie's unwavering care and kindness.
Joyce also enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren, Sarah and her husband Patrick, and Roxanne and Anthony, creating lasting memories as they lived nearby for many years.
Those who knew Joyce will always remember her as a giving and caring person. She had an incredible gift for making people feel loved, often through her thoughtful gifts and heartfelt gestures. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Joyce Darleen Johnson will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at Palm Eastern 7600 S Eastern Ave Las Vegas Nevada 89123, where friends and family can gather to honor the remarkable woman she was.
