Kathy and husband Frank Provenzano deceased) and daughter Adriana and son Anselmo; Daniela and Maurizio Pratolli and son Lorenzo; Massimo and son Stefano; Anna and sons Miro and Surai.
Joe was a quiet and private man. He loved and lived his life to the fullest. Joe and Dad would watch all sports on tv. That's how his love for sports began - football (Chicago Bears), baseball (Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox), hockey (Chicago Blackhawks and Las Vegas Golden Knights), basketball (Chicago Bulls), Italian soccer, and boxing. Joe had a great passion for boxing.
He worked part-time after he retired at Caesar's Palace as an usher and saw many fights and concerts. When mom, dad and me visited Joe, he would take dad to the fights and mom and I would go to see a Las Vegas show (Siegfried and Roy, Julio Iglesias). Another passion was golf. He loved to golf as much as he could. After he retired, he worked part-time at a golf course. He watched golf on tv and attended some well-known golf tournaments.
At a young age, mom and dad would play Italian operas on our record player. Mom would start singing the arias and Joe and I would laugh and roll our eyes. Little did we know that he and I would love to listen to Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli. Joe was very lucky when he was an usher. He worked Andrea Bocelli's shows in Las Vegas for seven years. Joe's and mine favorite aria, sung by Pavarotti, is Nessum Dorma, which became extremely popular around the world. He would listen to it all the time. Bocelli came to start singing it as well.
Joe married Darlene Newsome and became a stepfather. He had three wonderful stepsons (Tom, Tim, and Patrick--deceased). Joe had an instant family. Tom and wife Sandy had three sons--Chris, Bo, and Patrick; Tim and wife Pam and Randy; Patrick (deceased) and Adam, and the family continues to grow.
Darlene had two brothers (Dennis and David and a sister, Donna). Joe was so happy. His family had grown so much.
After he retired from U.S. Steel, he moved to Las Vegas. He hated Chicago winters. He would come to visit mom, dad and me and we would visit him. He always made sure to keep in touch with his friends (Darrell, Tom, Gary, John and Saul).
For the past nine years, I would visit Joe and Darlene. We would go to the movies, concerts, casinos and out to eat. He enjoyed his life to the fullest. He saw so many great entertainers - Bocelli, Rod Stewart, The Eagles, Elvis Presley and many more.
Joe was a wonderful brother. Since I was little, he was always the "protective" brother. He was always looking out for me. Two years ago, Bocelli was playing in Chicago, so he gave me two tickets for my birthday to see him. The show was phenomenal. I have been blessed to have had Joe as my brother. Because he was quiet, he didn't talk much on the phone. I would call him every week and we would talk for a few minutes and then ask him to let me talk to Darlene. She and I would talk for an hour. I loved every minute I spent with Joe.
Now he and Darlene are in Heaven and he is happy. I miss him terribly, but he will always be in my heart. Thank you, Joe, for loving me and always being there for me. Thank you for all the beautiful memories.
From the song "My Way", sung by Frank Sinatra, he loved and lived "his life his way."
