Joseph Eugene Lombardo, age 66, Las Vegas, NV, passed away at home on February 7, 2019 due to pancreatic cancer. An Honor Guard ceremony will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005.
Joe was born to Joseph Anthony “Tony” and Frances Lombardo on March 8, 1952 in Rome, New York. At the age of 12, the family moved to San Bernardino, CA, where he attended Arrowview Jr. High and San Bernardino High School as well as working for The Sun Telegram riding his bicycle delivering newspapers. Joe, a Viet Nam veteran, proudly served his country in the Army from December 1969 – December 1972. He was a mechanic/repairman on the UH-1 Helicopter. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Sharpshooter. After being Honorably discharged from the military, Joe held various jobs primarily in construction as a carpenter building houses throughout Southern California. In October 1982, Joe hired on as a journeyman carpenter at the San Bernardino City Schools District Maintenance and Operations. In January 2004 he was promoted to Supervisor of the Carpenter & Trades shop until retiring in March 2017. While working at the District, Joe studied and received his general contractor and locksmith licenses. Joe truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, he had many interests and hobbies. Joe was kind, loving and charitable - he loved God.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Frances. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Aimee, two children Ashley in Banning, CA, and Patrick (Rachel) in Riverside, CA, his sister Angela Ernst in San Bernardino, CA, three granddaughters, Lily, Ryleigh and Kailiana, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe touched many lives and had been blessed with an abundance of friends that he always referred to as his family.
