John Daniel Williams

John Daniel Williams was born on August 16, 1937, in Wilson County, North Carolina; ‘JD’ as he was affectionately called was the seventh out of eleven children born to the late Ulysses S.G. and Nannie Elizabeth Williams. John transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday September 23, 2024, at 7:15pm in Las Vegas, Nevada.

John received his early and secondary education in the Wilson County Public School System. John and his family were members of St. Rose Church of Christ in Wilson, North Carolina for many years.

John moved from Wilson, North Carolina to Brooklyn, New York then to Buffalo, New York, where he was a supervisor and Union Steward at Agway Farm & Home Supply for over 30 years before retiring. John would later relocate to the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles to be closer to his two daughters and would become an active member, and minister of Rock of The Valley C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of the late Elder James R. Purdom. While a member of the Rock of The Valley, C.O.G.I.C. he would meet and marry Evangelist Dorothy Massey.

John and Dorothy would move to Las Vegas, NV where they joined and became active members at Portals to Glory C.O.G.I.C.

John was preceded in death by five sisters, three brothers, and a stepdaughter. Many fond memories will always be shared by his family & friends who loved his sense of humor. John’s memory will remain in the hearts of his devoted wife Dorothy Massey Williams, two daughters Cynthia Williams and Dani Williams, both of Sylmar, Calif. one sister Louise Lassiter of Wake Forest, NC, one brother Ulysses Williams (Willie Mae), Pacoima, Calif., one aunt Nellie R. Artis, Wilson, NC., a special grandson, Craig Tomlin and great grandson Jordan, eleven favorite nieces, ten nephews, 4 grandchildren and many other family members & friends.

A visitation for John will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Portals to Glory COGIC, 2301 Comstock Dr, North Las Vegas, NV 89032, followed by a funeral from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
