MSGT. John H. Stroup, passed away January 26, 2012, at the age of 82. He was born November 21, 1929, In Bedford, Pa. John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1947 and became a Flight Simulator Instructor and served in the Korean War, retiring in 1973. As his second career, John taught at the Nevada Gaming School. He then went on to the Flamingo Hotel as a Slot Floorman and rose to the position of the Vice President of Slot Operations where he retired in 1995. He then built a second home in Olive Branch, MS. where he would spend six months of the year to be close to his daughter and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Barbara, and his son, Larry. He is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Scott) Brannum and his sons, Mark (Catherine) Stroup and Kenneth; granddaughters, Chris Uselton, Jamie Brannum, Jessica (Keith) Benson, Jacqueline Stroup, Amanda Stroup, Sara (Nick) Davidson; and great grandchildren, Leslie Uselton, Dalton Brannum and Cole Davidson. Services scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:00am, graveside to follow, all at Palm Mortuary- Downtown, 1325 North Main Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Downtown Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
