John F. Hill, 81, of Henderson, entered into rest Friday, March 2, 2012. He was born June 16, 1930. John and his wife, Rose, lived in Las Vegas for the past 19 years, formerly of South Bloomingrove, N.Y.. John was retired from Lederle Laboratories in the graphic arts department in Pearl River, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Washingtonville, N.Y. for many years, and was a charter member of the Knights of the Columbus, Our Lady of Lourdes Council 5890 in Washingtonville. He was a volunteer fireman, as well as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. John and a friend helped organize the first girls softball league in Monroe, N.Y. He is survived by his loving wife, of 52 years, Rose (Verzillo) Hill; son, John C. Hill and his wife, Mirna of Las Vegas; daughter, Joanne Sottile of Fort Montgomery, N.Y.; sister, Doreen Rush of Pennsylvania; sister, Margaret VanRomondt and her husband Larry of Las Vegas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anthony Sottile, Nicholas Sottile, and Nicole Hill; many nephews, nieces, and cousins; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 6. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial to follow.
