Joan P. Nielsen

Joan P. Nielsen passed away April 11, 2017 in Las Vegas. She was born October 13, 1945 in Akron, Ohio. Joan loved her job as a Controller for Kalb Construction and worked there for over 35 years and retired in 2011. The Kalb’s were like family to her. She had a passion to travel the world, and enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren on many adventures. Joan was active with “The Daughters of the Nile”, and enjoyed her time with them. She was “Queen of the Nile” in 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy D. Nielsen, Jr. in 1996. She is survived by three daughters, Tina D. Carter, Tamara Lynn Frank and Amanda K. Larsen; six grandchildren, Travis J. Livingston, Cory A. Frank, Jamie R. Frank, Amber L. Frank, Anthony D. Larsen and Jackson A. Larsen; along with four great- grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in honor on Friday, May 12th at 1:00pm at Palm South Jones Mortuary, 1600 S Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89146. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
