Jimmy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Combat Construction Specialist and was honorably discharged as E-4.
He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he attended community college and became a casino dealer.
He worked at several hotel casino in Las Vegas. He successfully retired as a Casino Pit Boss from the Four Queens Hotel and Casino.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with family/friends. He loved sharing family history, military stories, bible knowledge and giving his experience about life.

He is survived by daughter LaShaun Parker (Dion), Grand-kids: Leilani Thomas and Daniel Parker
Siblings: Lela Toldson, Willie Risper (Odessa), Jessie Woods (Bessie), Vivian Jones (LB), Annie Ruth Elliot (Andrew) Lady (Rosie) Monroe (Robert), Charles Woods, Fannie Gorman-Dix (Frank).
Bonus Family: Daughter(s) Nakia Prater, Yvonne Rainey, Stephanie Rainey, Grandkids: Andre Rainey, Erica Clarks. A host of Great-Grandkids, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Jimmie will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 10, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A committal service will occur Friday, February 10, 2023 from 1:20 PM to 2:00 PM at Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
