Jesse Allan Anders

When someone is identified as a natural leader, certain images come to mind. First thoughts are of a no-nonsense, tough-minded, dedicated and disciplined person. This description accurately fits Jesse Allan Anders who will be remembered as being highly organized, practical and realistic. He was a person who always carried a strong sense of duty with him throughout his life.

Jesse was born on December 26, 1956 at Wasco Hospital in Wasco, California. His parents were Judith Ohler and Jesse Gray. Jesse was raised in Central California and the Dallas Texas area. Even as a youngster, Jesse learned to be objective and decisive. As a young boy, Jesse was able to put these natural abilities to work. Jesse was raised with four siblings. He had an older sister, Suzie; two younger half-sisters, Pam and Lori, and one younger stepsister Deb.

Jesse's matter-of-fact attitude about most things was developed during his childhood. As a young boy, Jesse enjoyed being part of teams, and organizations and groups of other kids who shared similar interests. Jesse took part in football, motorbikes, and bicycle riding. In his spare time he liked drawing and farming. He graduated from Wasco High School in 1975. He enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. His favorite class in high school was Math. He was All American for football and graduated with high honors. He pursued a Bachelor’s degree before he decided to make changes, and was 30 credits away from completing college.

Jesse was sociable and approachable. Because he was always so straightforward in how he approached relationships, friends and family knew that what they saw was always what they got. He wasn’t afraid to confront his friends and, when necessary, he challenged them to stick to the task at hand. While growing up, some of his best friends were his football buddies. Later in life, he became friends with Brad, Lester, Otary, Tate, Ed, Jim, Chris, John, Steve, Terry, and Dean.

An objective and conscientious individual, Jesse reveled in the security of his family. On September 23, 1989 Jesse exchanged wedding vows with Deanna Teresa Cambron at the White Lace and Promised Chapel of Las Vegas, Nevada. Jesse was blessed with three children: his two sons, Mathew and Nathan, and one daughter, Meagan. He had the ability to enforce the rules as needed to ensure that his children were properly raised, and was ever watchful of his children.

Being a hard worker who praised efficiency, Jesse was always striving to make improvements where they were necessary. He worked cooperatively and expected the same from his colleagues. His primary occupation was as a Control Technician. He was employed for Kern River Gas Transmission Company for 21 years. Before that he worked in the Oil industry for 22 years, and prior to that he was in the military. Jesse was a team player who certainly lived out the motto of “give me a job, and I will get it done.”

Jesse was a United States Marine Corp Veteran. His sense of duty helped lead him into the military where his understanding of rank, his willingness to abide by rules and regulations and his desire to follow orders was admired by his fellow service men and women. He was in the Third Battalion Platoon 3027 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, 29 Palms, Mount Fuji, Japan, Camp Le Jeune and upstate New York. Jesse served during the Vietnam War. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the rank of Lance Corporal.

His favorite pursuits were desert dirt bike racing and coaching sports. Jesse was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. In high school, Jesse played football. Recreational sports included desert dirt bike racing. He also was something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were football and college softball.

Being generous with his time and energy, Jesse liked to belong to a variety of groups and organizations. He was a vocal leader who enjoyed being a part of things. His desire to uphold traditions and his ability to take charge of any type of project made him a tremendous asset. Jesse was a member of the 100’s Motorcycle Club, US Vets Marine Corp Vets, and Leatherneck Club. Throughout his later years, Jesse was an active member of the Leatherneck Club, Your Arlington Manor Neighbors. Politically, Jesse was a member of the Republican Party. Some of his most prestigious awards included membership in the 100 mile club, along with multiple racing awards.

Faith was important to Jesse. He held high moral standards, and for that reason he held deep spiritual beliefs that he was willing to share. He was a Christian since childhood.

When it came time to travel or take a vacation, Jesse used his scheduling expertise to make sure everyone and everything was ready to go. Jesse had a knack for making sure that everyone who was involved had their specific tasks and that those tasks were completed. Favorite vacations included Jamaica, St George, Utah, Hawaii, and camping in the desert.

Jesse was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of Jesse’s favorites was Sarge, a cattle dog. His family was rounded out by his cat, Spot, and five dogs, Raider, Bobby, Duece, Jake and Waylon.

Jesse passed away on January 14, 2023 at Summerlin Hospital. He fought his battle with kidney failure, infectious diseases, sepsis and hypotension. He is survived by his wife, Deanna; two sons, Mathew and Nathan; one daughter, Meagan, two half-sisters, Pam and Lori; and one step sister Deb. Jesse's ashes will be placed in his favorite spot in his bedroom, looking out the window and watching TV.

All who knew him would agree that Jesse lived his life with his feet firmly on the ground. He had a strong work ethic, was pragmatic in his thoughts and acts, and constantly sought the means for self-improvement. He was willing to share his ideas and knowledge for the benefit of others, so that they could accomplish more in their lives. Jesse Allan Anders did his best to ensure that his family, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and everyone whose life he touched was given the chance to become a better person.

A memorial visitation for Jesse will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113, followed by a memory sharing from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
