It is with broken hearts we announce, Jerold (Jerry) R. Martin, age 73, passed away March 20, 2024 surrounded by family at Centennial Hospital after an unexpected brief illness. Jerry was born in Kalispell, MT on 08/24/1950 the youngest child of William and Elizabeth Martin. Jerry grew up fly fishing in the creeks of Montana and exploring the outdoors with his siblings MaryAnn & John.
When Jerry was a pre-teen the Martin family moved to Las Vegas where Jerry met his future wife and love of his life, LouAnna Cooper. He graduated from Clark High School in 1969 and went on to start a life long career as an Operating Engineer (Local 12) in the construction industry.
Jerry & LouAnna married in 1971 and went onto have 2 children, Billy & Amber. Jerry was a loving and devoted family man. He was a man who went to work everyday without complaint and was home every night spending time with his family. Although he was a man of few words, we knew we could count on him to support us throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives. Jerry was caring and generous, whatever the circumstances. He could fix almost anything and was often called upon to help repair cars, roofs, or other odds and ends, or emergency repair jobs. He loved to fly fish and was proud of his home state Montana, he spent most summers of his youth exploring there and it was his favorite place to take his family for vacation.
After retiring in 2007 Jerry enjoyed many things such as playing word or mind puzzles, tinkering on his computer, spending time with his family, and traveling. He was an avid reader, often filling the family in on the latest news or space developments. Many days he could be found relaxing in his recliner cheering on his favorite teams - UNLV Running Rebels, Raiders, VGK, Nascar drivers, or golfers. Most of all his favorite retirement hobbies were doting on and spoiling his only grandson (rootbeer floats for breakfast!!), traveling with family, pampering his 2 cats (Slick & Fuzzy), and NOT working. He was loved more than infinity and will be missed for all the tomorrows to come.
Jerry is survived by his children Billy (wife Azumi) and Amber (husband Shawn), and one grandson. His sister MaryAnn Ingram (Wayne) and brother John Martin (Anita). Sister in law Rebecca Neal-Cooper (Bob) and a host of nieces and nephews and many others who loved him dearly.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife, LouAnna Martin and parents William and Elizabeth.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported them during this most difficult time of loss.
