Janice Elaine Somerville

She was born on December 18, 1947 in Bremerton, Washington to Robert and Arlene Metten. She was married to Donald Somerville in 1987. She had three siblings, Larry Metten, Elizabeth Mooney, and Craig Metten.

Janice graduated from Basic High School in 1966. In the 1970s, she worked for a few years at Binion’s Horseshoe and the Union Plaza casinos before settling into a secretarial position at EG&G where she stayed until the mid-80s after attaining the position of Administrative Assistant. After marrying in 1987, she was primarily a homemaker and eventually devoted herself to the care of her aging mother for many years.

Janice loved the holiday season, reading and watching suspense and murder mysteries, and enjoyed playing penny slots and video poker at the casinos with her mother. She was beautiful, funny, smart, and resourceful; a wonderful and kind mother, a loving wife, and a beloved and vital member of her family.

She is survived by her husband, Donald, and her two sons, Todd and Ty Metten.

A private family celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on August 20, 2022 at her home.
