James Edward Greene

He was born in Montezuma, Georgia on January 13, 1934. He was raised in Montezuma and Washington, D.C. He joined the Air Force and at his first military assignment, Nellis AFB, he met and married the love of his life, Leola. After spending a few years in Pensacola, FL they returned to Las Vegas where he remained a resident for 63 years.James was a Federal Employee at Nellis AFB for 40 years, and was also a Clark County Nevada employee for 29 years. He was PWGM, 33° of St. Marks Grand Lodge, Las Vegas. An avid fisherman, he loved spending time on the lake. James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leola Greene, parents Myrtle Hunter, and Walter Greene; his brother Willie Greene; Granddaughter Chelsea Sampson; and Great Grandson Xavier Tanner. He leaves to cherish his memories his seven children: Janet Hughes (John); Linda Bell; and Sharon Sampson of Las Vegas; Doretha Walker of Rogers, Arkansas; Jamie Parham (Byron) of Hampton, Virginia; James Greene, Jr of Las Vegas; Ramona Hughes (Terry) of Schertz, Texas; 17 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Funeral service will occur Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Committal service will occur Friday, June 23, 2023 from 10:40 AM to 11:40 AM at Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
