Irene Magdalena DiBenedetto

Irene Magdalena DiBenedetto, 74 years young and a longtime resident of Henderson, Nevada passed away on February 6, 2018 at 8:01 p.m. She was surrounded by her family who watched as she peacefully left this earth to find her place in heaven. While they were heartbroken to lose her, each one was grateful that her tremendous suffering over the past few months had come to an end and she was no longer in pain. She fought an incredible fight and made her family proud with her determination.

Irene had an interesting career throughout her life that began as a secretary working in the United Nation’s building in New York City, a PBX operator at Chino Hospital in Chino, California, a Medical Credentialer at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and finally retiring as a Medical Staff Director for North Vista Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each position allowed her to make many lifelong friendships that continued to enrich her life. Irene loved good food, family gatherings, playing games, watching movies, listening to music, playing Keno, and overall, just being a very social person. She loved spending time with her family, and most especially her grandkids. She had frequent play dates where they would color, paint, play with play dough, sing songs, take selfies on her cellphone and read together. She loved spending time with her girlfriends and looked forward to restaurants, movies and game nights. She always had a smile for everyone. It was a longstanding joke that Irene could talk to anyone at any time - even while standing in line at the grocery store! Most of all, Irene loved her four children and was there for each of them during the rough times in each of their lives. She was a fine example of a mother and a friend and will be forever missed, always remembered and never replaced. There is no doubt that Irene’s life was abruptly cut short without any reason that can be easily accepted. Irene’s passing remains a shock to all who loved her, and it is only through the multitude of memories that they can eventually hope to find a way to cope with her absence.

A memorial service to celebrate Irene’s life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Palm Mortuary – Eastern location.
