He was born April 9, 1930 in the small town of Opi, Italy. On February 27, 1970, he made the trip across the ocean with his family and arrived at Ellis Island, New York. There he settled in Port Washington, New York and provided for his family, making sure his kids had a good education, at times he held 3 jobs at the same time. He worked at the North Hempstead Country Club as a landscaper for over 30 years until his retirement. Tired of the long winter months, he moved to Henderson in 2002.
Giovanni passed down his work ethics to his kids, never missing a day or work. His family was his priority and he loved them dearly. He enjoyed listening to the music of Andrea Bocelli and il Volo, watching soccer, doing crossword puzzles, and gardening and was proud of his flowers and vegetables.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maria Giulia; his daughter Annina and son-in-law Sorrentino; his son Antonello and daughter-in-law Laurie; grandchildren Joann, John, Nicholas, Olivia and great-grandchildren Matthew, Michael and Liam.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on April 19, 2021 at Palm Eastern Mortuary. Burial will be held at 11:00 AM at Palm Eastern Cemetery.
