Frank James Smith was born on January 1, 1962 in Newellton, LA to the late Charlie James Monroe, LA and Emily Lee Buchanan of Newellton, LA. One September 27, 1986 Frank married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Sheppard. In their union they bore two children Chariell Sha’bari Smith and Avery O’Neil Smith. After the homegoing of Franks Mother he relocated to Chicago and Later to Las Vegas which he made his home.
Frank attended Eldorado High School where he graduated and received his diploma. He continued his education at the CCSD as he pursued a degree in Architectural Design. Frank was employed during his life by EG & G Company as a custodian, Golden Gate as dishwasher, he went on to join the Labor’s Union where he mastered a trade in construction and retired from the union at the age of 37. He then joined the Carpenter’s Union and mastered the trade as a carpenter and worked many years to help build the Hotel industry in Las Vegas. Frank joined Wesley Trucking company and was later encouraged to start his own business by the owner Lee Wesley. In the last two year of his life’s journey the Smith Family started their own business in commercial trucking, “One Accord Trucking Company”.
One of His greatest attributes was that he loved helping people with the rigors of life. Frank was very multi-talented because of the many skill sets and he had the uncanny ability to make people laugh. Everyone has a story to laugh about with their experience with Frank. Frank accepted Christ in his life in at the Greater Carver Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the Leadership of great Pastor Rev. R. J. Wilson. He joined the deacon board and worked in training and later crowned as a deacon, He was appointed as the Youth Director, basketball coach for the youth, very instrumental in making changes in youth lives. Bible teacher, and later accepted the call to preach and was Ordained as a Minister under the late great Rev. Alphonse McCloed. Frank helped others in many ways, gift of money, dedication of time when needed, and shared others burdens in many ways.
Minister Frank Smith departed his journey on September 13, 2020 at Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents Emily Lee Buchanan and Charlie James, one son, Shawn Smith, two brothers, John Henry James, and Charles Edward Smith, one sister, Linda Bell Dunmore, and one cousin raised as a brother Sam Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mrs. Glenda Sheppard-Smith, three children, Jawarra Smith, Chariell Glogovac-Smith (Sophie Glogovac-Smith), Avery O’Neil Smith (Mhina Hill), One aunt, Ermma Jean Jackson, three brothers, Robert Buchanan (Angelia Buchanan) Las Vegas, Nevada, Jesse James Monroe, LA, Charles Smith (Elvie Smith) Las Vegas, Nevada, two special brother-n-law Albert Lee Sheppard of California, Marcus Sheppard (Kalandra Sheppard) Las Vegas, three sisters, Savannah Lundy (Adrian) of Newellton, LA., Joyce Smith (Thomas Ray Smith) Las Vegas, Nevada., Terri Lynn Buchanan Las Vegas, Nevada., five special sister-n-laws, Genolia Sawyers, Linda Lewis, Gail Sheppard, Tammy Sheppard, Tamika Sheppard all of Las Vegas, and Grenta James of St. Joseph, LA, two special granddaughters, Ahmya Nevaeh Smith and Violet Marie Smith both of Las Vegas, Nevada., one cousin raised as a sister Glenda Diane Smith Las Vegas., and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
