She was 93 years old
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great- Great Grandmother entered into the gates of heaven on October 27, 2022.
She was greeted by her mother Agnes Cefalo, 2 bothers, Leonard and Joseph Cefalo, 3 sisters Mary Ribar, Dora Butera , Lillian Scalise, her 2 sons James (Jimmy) Tipton and Anthony (Tony) Tipton and her daughter Marsha Ceriotti.
She leaves behind 1 daughter Denise Varay and 1 son William (Billy) Tipton, 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 6 great -great grandchildren, 2 great -great grandchildren to be born in December and March as well as many other family and friends.
Ellie, as she liked to be called was born in Pittsburgh PA. She was the last of 6 children. She loved her family passionately especially her mother Agnes Cefalo. Ellie lived a full life and although filled with many challenges, she was always ready to dance. She knew all the latest line dances as well as the Italian ones. She was a member of the Golden Tappers, performed in many shows and even acted in the Sienna Showcase for a few years. After her family and dance her next love was the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was an avid fan. She loved football, Ellie tried never to miss a Steeler game, she reveled in their triumphs and anguished in their losses.
She would tell us all stories of her childhood, what it was like in the growing up during the Great Depression, moving to Steubenville Ohio, raising 5 children mostly on her own, her many jobs of which she was proud.
Ellie, her Mother and sisters all enjoyed a good card game. Many a day was spent playing cards with each other and their families. They all lived close and while the grownups played cards, all the young children (cousins) played.
Ellie had a wonderful sense of humor, she was always quick to laugh and chat. She was always active and looked forward to the next gathering with friends or family. She enjoyed the art club, she made many pieces which she gave to anyone who asked for them.
Ellie loved God. She attended the Holy Spirit Catholic church where she would help with the Holy Communion as often as she could.
Ellie was a gift and a blessing to us all and she will be greatly missed.
We love you Mom, Grandma and friend, may you rest in peace.
