Eddie grew up in a loving Christian home where he accepted the Lord as his savior at a very early age. A lover of music, Eddie was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, he not only sang in his local church choir, but the National Choir as well. While participating in many church auxiliaries, he also played the organ on many occasions.
An active fitness enthusiast, he enjoyed jogging, power walking, and weight lifting. His joy for computers and electronics meant he always found a reason to be in the electronics department of any department store checking out and buying he latest gadgets.
Eddie was educated in the Wisconsin school system, graduating from high school. He continued his education at Washington State University earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Afterwards, he joined the Army. While overseas, he did extensive computer data research work as well as helicopter maintenance.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Eddie was blessed with employment with KeyCorp Bank as a Marketing Research Analysis in Albany, New York. During this time, he met and married, Mary Kenan at St. John’s Church of God in Christ where they both attended. With the company move of KeyCorp to Cleveland, Ohio, Eddie relocated and maintained his employment with them.
Seeking warmer and more agreeable weather than what he had been accustomed to, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. While here, he worked for the State of Nevada, with his last position being in Vocational Rehabilitation for the Deaf, using Sign Language, after being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Eddie leaves a precious life of memories to his loving and dedicated wife, Mary Kenan Allen, step-sons Pastor Terrance Kenan and Samuel Kenan Jr., Brothers; Robert Allen Jr., Eugene (Lonnie) Allen, Donell Allen and his late wife Yolanda, Maurice (Ruth) Allen, Alfred (Colette) Allen, Frank (Avera) Allen, John Allen; Sisters: Cynthia Allen-Lowe and Benita Allen; Adopted Children, Grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
