Sergeant King is a second generation LVMPD Officer. Sergeant King served the Las Vegas community for17 years, and at the time of his passing was assigned to the Summerlin Area Command swing shift. He was a well-liked sergeant at Summerlin Area Command and was known for his great personality and uplifting disposition.
Sergeant King was scheduled to receive the LVMPD Medal of Honor at the upcoming Best of the Badge Gala for his recent heroic actions. In September of 2020, Doug placed himself at great risk to save the life of a domestic violence victim. His valorous actions went far and above the normal call of duty.
Sergeant King was a dedicated husband, father and son. He is survived by his wife Cinnamon, who is currently assigned to the Communications section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, three daughters Scarlett, Tommi and Hannah, granddaughter Marley, grandmother Joann, father John, mother Denise, brother Josh, and sister Kaylee.
We are honored to call Sergeant King a leader, co-worker, and friend with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A visitation for Douglas will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 11:00 AM at Central Church, 1001 New Beginnings Dr, Henderson, NV 89011. A committal service will be at 1:00 PM at Palm Northwest Cemetery, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131 with a reception to follow from 1:30 to 3:30PM at Palm Northwest Mortuary.
For the funeral service guests are encouraged to wear a Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, The Red Rocker, The Circle or the Threads of eNVy shirt for Doug to his funeral service.
