Dorothy B Pollard

After 101+ years well lived and loved, Dorothy Brennan Pollard passed Friday July 15, 2022 in Las Vegas, NV from complications of a fall as she was getting out of bed.

Dorothy was born on April 2, 1921 in Northampton, MA. She was predeceased by her father Donald Brennan and mother Genevieve Brennan, brother Robert Brennan and sister Elizabeth Barry. Dot leaves her three daughters; Susan Pollard Carollo of Las Vegas, NV, Gail Pollard

Maxwell and Donald Maxwell of Naples, FL and Trishia Pollard of Kalispell, MT. Dorothy was lovingly known as Grama Dot and Hi Dot. She leaves six grandchildren; Jimmy and Larry Carollo, Janet Clifford, Doug and Ana Maxwell, Sam and Laura Welch, Teije Spratt, and six great grandchildren and one great, great grand son, plus many nieces and nephews.

Dot graduated from Northampton Commercial College. She then moved to Washington, DC, where she became the Executive Secretary to the head of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) which later became the CIA. She later transferred to the Pentagon. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart David J. Pollard on September 3, 1941 in her parent’s garden in Northampton, MA. Both Dot and Dave eventually transferred to Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY, where she was the Base Commander’s Executive Secretary.

Dot and Dave lived in several states over the course of their marriage. After they retired they traveled for many years all across the US and Canada. Dot’s expertise included knitting, sewing, canning, baking and cooking. She will also be remembered for her strength, leadership, and exceptional wit. Dot always enjoyed arts and crafts especially jewelry making. Her gifts of handmade jewelry were enjoyed by family and friends from Maine to Florida to Alaska and Nevada.

The family would like to thank Grama Dot’s special Las Vegas caregivers Debbie Fox and Pam Edwards Haynie. The family is having a private celebration at home
