December 26, 1964 in Flushing, Queens County, New York.
The family relocated to Cleveland, OH in 1968, where Allen attended the Cleveland Public Schools and, later, Strongsville area schools where he received his diploma in 1983. The following year he and his brother Mal accepted positions with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C, where both remained for a time.
Allen went on to work as a highly skilled legal secretary for prominent Washington, D.C. area law firms. After living in D.C. for 21 years, he decided a change was in order and relocated to Las Vegas, NV in 2005 to join his parents who had retired there several years earlier. He continued his job successes by winning numerous awards with his former employer Capital One, before moving on to Credit One Bank. Most recently, Allen was rewarded with a promotion to Manager of Collections at Credit One.
Allen was a talented artist as a child and, later, an avid music lover -- especially of old-school r&b and gospel female artists.
Anyone that knew him well, knew that Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Yolanda Adams were his all-time favorites, among others. Listening to gospel music and the messages of faith and redemption also helped strengthen his own faith. Allen established that foundation during his youth as a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Cleveland. Although he did not have a current church affiliation, he was receptive to discussions of God and participated in prayer with his brother Mal. Recent conversations about his renewed faith were mentioned after facing some challenges. Additionally, family was important to him and he always made time to attend reunions and other family functions, as well as keep in regular touch with those nearest to him.
In remembering Allen, we cannot forget his way of making everyone laugh around him. He had a laugh that was infectious and had a witty sense of humor. Allen was joined with God on January 18, 2020. His mother, Judith Kay preceded him in death in 2006.
