CW3 DAVID TIDWELL U.S. Army, Retired David D. Tidwell Sr., "Mr. T," U.S. Army (ret.), 68, bravely fought a long and hard battle against cancer and passed away May 31, 2013, with his loved ones by his bedside, in Las Vegas. David was born April 2, 1945, in Birmingham, Ala., to Jay and Ruby Tidwell and was one of nine siblings. He is survived by his loving wife, of 47 years, Helma Tidwell; children, Karin Russo, Sandra Andino and David D. Tidwell Jr.; and granddaughter, Ariana Andino. David was a Vietnam War veteran and retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service. He then worked for the civil service, where he was the morale, welfare and recreation director for the Army and Navy. He gave 47 years to a job he loved. David was known for his attention to detail and his love of NASCAR. He was loved by all that knew him and was affectionately referred to as 'Mr. T." David will continue to do great things working side-by-side with the Lord. He cared deeply about his friends and co-workers. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131. Graveside services will be at 10:40 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive in Boulder City.
