Dr. David B. Sandquist of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at the age of 79. Born July 2, 1942 in Rockford, Illinois to parents Berger & Anna May Sandquist. Dave grew up in Rockford where he spent his elementary and middle school years at Lincoln Park School & Washington Jr. High. He graduated from Broadview Academy in 1960. After that, he attended Andrews University completing pre-dental course work in 2 years. Dave graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1966. During his sophomore year of dental school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving at Nellis Air Force Base after graduating. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and began his family life in Las Vegas, Nevada with his lovely wife Beverly. Dave practiced Dentistry in Las Vegas for 54 years, running his own practice and was a loved and well respected dentist serving patients from all over the world. He had a deep love for music and was choir director for the Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 35 years, directing cantatas and programs for many years at Christmas and Easter. He played the violin throughout his life and took lessons until 2020. From his early years Dave loved model trains and kept his childhood O gauge train loop throughout his life. Over the last decade he built one of the largest private model train setups in the Western United States. Dave loved sports and was a proud booster for UNLV Runnin’ Rebels football and basketball. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Dave was an avid golfer and could be found regularly on the links at Canyon Gate Country Club, where he was affectionately known as Doc. Dave enjoyed time with family and many different activities with his children and grandchildren. He created memories with his family going snow and water skiing, attending baseball games, hiking, boating, golfing, and attending events of all his grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly, his daughter Wendy Retzer and her husband Marklyn, his son Doug Sandquist and his wife Misti Song Sandquist; his grandchildren, Gabriel and Adrian Retzer, Reece and Jillian Sandquist; and his sister, Sharon Miller. We look forward to the day when we will all be reunited together in the presence of Jesus whom Dave loved with all his heart.
Celebration of Life Service will take place on June 2 at 1 pm, Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6001 Oakey Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89117. Service will be available via Facebook Live https://www.facebook.com/wendyretzercoaching and will be live streamed from the church.
