13, 2019, aged 83. He was born January 3, 1936 in Collins, Mississippi to Mildred and Nonnie
Warren Wade. After meeting Chinnena Jo Riley at a drive-in and falling in love, the pair married
two years later on June 28, 1957 in El Paso, Texas at the Central Baptist Church. Dan and Chena
had their first child, Daniel Webster “Butch” Jr., the following year. With their second son, Gary
Warren, (born in 1959) and their first daughter, Virginia Ann “Ginger” (born in 1960) following
suit. Daniel served 23 years in the United States Air Force, first enlisting at age 18. As a TSgt, he
assembled and disassembled military aircrafts, specializing in jet engines. In 1962, Daniel was
stationed in Okinawa at Naha Airbase for a month before Chena and the children moved
overseas to be with him. After four years there, they all moved to Springfield, Massachusetts
when Dan was transferred to Westover AFB. In 1968, Dan went to Vietnam for a year and
Chena and the kids moved back to El Paso to live with her mother, Irene, until the end of his
tour. While in Vietnam on Special Ops, he took part in several combat missions serving as a
gunner on an AC-130A gunship. In 1969, Dan was assigned to Edwards AFB in California and
the family lived there until his retirement from service in 1977. At Edwards, Dan worked as a
certified automotive mechanic at the base auto garage. He then worked as a jet engine mechanic
for Tracor Flight Systems in Mojave, finishing out his career. In 1999, Dan and Chena purchased
and moved into their “forever home” in Las Vegas, Nevada to live closer to Butch, Ginger, and
their young grandchildren. Known for his sense of humor, generosity, and “purdy” smile, Dan
enjoyed tending to his garden, trying new places to eat, building and fixing things with his hands,
doing crossword puzzles, going to the dog park, attending church and Bible study, and
cherishing every single moment spent with his loved ones. His grandchildren, Jesse and Kalie,
enjoyed spending time with their Grandpa riding bikes, baking, gardening, going on trips,
walking their beloved Westies “Goob” and “Dee”, and always laughing together. Daniel was
preceded in transition to eternal life by wife, Chena and son, Gary. He is survived by son, Butch;
daughter, Ginger; grandchildren, Jesse and Kalie; and many cousins. Services will be at 9:00
a.m. Monday, October 28, at Shadow Hills Church, 7811 Vegas Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89128.
Later that day, he will be laid to rest at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900
Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV 89005 at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations to the Westie Rescue of California (and Seven Western States).
