Daniel James Patrick Colleran, 85, passed away March 14, 2012 surrounded by family. He was born July 28, 1926 in Aberdeen, S.D. to Daniel and Bertha Colleran. A long-time resident, Danny was one of the first dealers to open the Stardust. His career in gaming spanned over 25 years. He retired in the 1980's to open up one of the first baseball card shops in town. He moved to Sun City Anthem in the 1990's and was active in many organizations. His family always came first as did his love of God and Catholic faith. A true patriot, Dan served his country in World War II in the United States Marine Corps, Sixth Division fighting in the final battle of the Pacific Conflict. He is preceded in death by his wife, Miriam; daughters, Mary Theresa and Danette Nora; and grandson, Nicholas. He is survived by his daughters, Colleen (Bill) McDonald, Bridget Colleran and Erin (Mark) Stipek; son, Danny (Carey) Colleran; grandchildren, Danielle, Kelsey, Sarah, Hannah, Cameron and Cole; one great-grandson, Nathan; sister, Joan (Michael) Hoxsey of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews. He lost his brothers, Tom and Jim this past year. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
