Carol "Cookie" Healey, age 78, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away from natural causes on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Cookie was born in Oakland, California on February 13, 1945 to parents Alfred and Eldora Alberti. She grew up in El Cerrito, California, attending El Cerrito High School. She has an older sister, Darlene, and younger sister, Cindy, of both which she remained close with throughout her life, and who live nearby in Las Vegas. Cookie has two children, Robert “Nick” and Kristen, along with grandchildren Jake and Jessica. Her cherished nephews and nieces include Ernie, Michelle, Jennifer, Patricia, and Timothy.
Cookie loved traveling, shopping with her sisters, and playing with her little dog, Fifi. While traveling with her late husband, Mel, some favorite vacations included Italy, Ireland, Mexico, and Germany, including logging over 465 total cruise days at sea. She most recently served as a volunteer at Centennial Hills Hospital, both in the surgery waiting room and at the front desk. Prior to retirement, Cookie spent a large part of her career in banking, starting initially as a teller, and later as an operations manager. She also previously taught banking at Alameda High School in California.
Cookie was loved by all for her unique and outgoing personality, described by her son as “equal parts feisty and generous”.
Family and friends of Cookie’s gathered together on April 10 for a celebration of life at Palm Northwest Mortuary. She will be buried alongside her life-long love, Mel, at Palm Northwest Cemetery.
