Bruce Earl Canfield

Kip was born in Beloit, KS, to Mildred and Earl Canfield. He graduated from Beloit High School in 1965. He attended Kansas University and volunteered to serve as a marine in Vietnam. Upon returning from his service, he worked at the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department from 1970-1980. He married Karla Christensen in 1976 and moved to Woodland Park, CO, where they welcomed their first child, Kristen. Kip moved the family to Walnut Creek, CA, where their second child, Greg was born. Kip worked in law enforcement sales for over 20 years. As a salesman, he visited over 200 jurisdictions in western United States including Alaska and Hawaii.

Kip and his wife served as parent volunteers for their children’s high school choir and band. They traveled with 50+ high school students to New York City, London, Paris, Estonia, Rome, and even Russia as volunteers. He helped raise thousands of dollars to support the music program and help students achieve opportunities of a lifetime.

Kip enjoyed watching any activity his children were involved in and was so proud of their accomplishments. Kip also enjoyed watching KU basketball, shooting, NASCAR, traveling, scuba-diving, and visiting his family. He will be missed.

A funeral service for Kip will be held Saturday July 16th from 11:00 AM to 2:00PM at Palm South Jones Mortuary.
