Brian Mentley Fisher, Esq., born Feb. 8, 1946, in New York City and raised by loving parents Harold Mentley and Elizabeth Fisher in the Gowanda region in upstate New York. Brian is survived by a sister, Karen Elizabeth Fisher Vogtli; nieces, Tara Osborne and Kiersten Palmersheim; nephews, Shane Vogtli and Kevin Vogtli; and 10 great nephews and one great niece, all of Vancouver, Wash. Brian was only recently diagnosed with cancer. Brian served his country in the U.S. Army, discharged in 1970. Brian was a 1975 graduate of Kent State University and a 1979 graduate of the Ohio Northern University College of Law. After a successful law career in Lima, Ohio, concentrating mainly on criminal defense and trial practice, Brian successfully passed the Nevada bar exam and continued to practice criminal defense law in Las Vegas. In addition to the practice of law, Brian was a friend of Bill W., acting as an active mentor and counselor and assisting friends and associates dealing with stresses, pressures and addictions so common in today's hurried society. Brian was an active motorcyclist, having ridden through every state in the continental U.S, Canada from east to west and most of Mexico. In fact Brian's last ride was several hundred miles through the desert and surrounding mountains just two weeks before his passing. Brian was also an accomplished scuba diver, with dives all over the world, snow skier at all major mountains in North America, race boat driver, motorcycle racer and automobile race car driver. All knew Brian as practical. Brian instructed that he did not wish for flowers to be sent. Instead, those who wish to give in Brian's honor may do so to the Brian Fisher Memorial Fund at Meadows Bank. Brian's personal representative J. Mitchell Cobeaga will disperse the funds to local charities in need. Memorial services will be 1-3 p.m., Saturday, June 9, at the Palm Mortuary-Downtown, 1325 N. Main St., Las Vegas. A ceremonial motorcycle ride with Brian's ashes as his last ride will be conducted to his beloved Red Rock Canyon at 8 a.m., Sunday, June 10, leaving the Starbucks at 8164 Las Vegas Blvd. S. Anyone wishing one last ride with Brian is invited to ride along.
