

Betty Lou Pringle, age 86, of Las Vegas, NV. Departed Earth to be with her God and her “one and only” Bill on July 12, 2014. Betty Lou was born on November 29, 1927 in Purchase Line, PA and was raised in Kittanning, PA. Her parents were Guear Shank and Gaye Vance Houck. Betty Lou Graduated from Indiana State Teachers College in 1948. She began her teaching career as a music teacher. She then married Bill Pringle in 1950 and they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In Phoenix she taught in the Glendale School district for 38 years. She taught in the Fourth and fifth grade classroom then later specialized in Learning Disabilities, which was a new field at the time. She helped shape and mold many wayward children to have productive and successful lives. She was very active in First Baptist Church in Phoenix, Az. and was also a substitute organist. During the summer months she and Bill took the family to Strawberry Valley (Duck Creek) Utah starting in 1963. Together they were instrumental in developing several subdivisions in the area. Betty and Bill retired to Sun City Arizona in 1992 where Betty enjoyed being active in the ceramics club. She was also a knitter, family and friends continue to enjoy her many sweaters and blankets! After the passing of her beloved husband in 2008 Betty moved to Las Vegas to be with her family. She was active in the Sun City Community Church. Betty Lou is survived by her son Bryan and wife Therese of Las Vegas, NV; son Dale of Strawberry Valley, UT; grandson Sean Simpson of Long Beach, CA; daughter Lyra Pherigo and her husband Robert and her grandson Lucas of Olathe, KS; sister Eileen Coefield and her husband John of Palm Desert, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, brothers Bernon and Dutch, and daughter Gaye Nell. Betty was a giver, she loved to help others. She will be sorely missed by every person she encountered in her life. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday July 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd Las Vegas, NV 89131 In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org).
