She was born on October 31, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ralph Elmer Ward and Mabel Ameila Ward. She soon became a big sister to Susan Ethel Ward on November 22, 1948. In October of 1957, when she was 10-years old, her family moved to California; that is where she met her future husband Joie Gene Dougherty and her best friend Pat Fugua.
Barbara graduated high school at the age of 17; she went on to take some classes at Mt. Sac College.
She was married to Joie Gene Dougherty on June 25, 1967. They had four children Kathleen, Joie, Timothy and Michael. She loved her family and spent as much time as she could with them. She was also passionate about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Utah. After moving to Nevada, she became a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church. She attended many Bible studies furthering her knowledge in Christ. The biggest desire she had was to have all of her family know about the Lord and to accept him as their Lord and Savior. She would tell everyone she knew the most important things were Christ and her family.
Barbara enjoyed her family time, bible studies and visiting Disneyland. She had a smile on wherever she went and could talk to anyone. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed, but we know she is home with her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Mabel Ward, and her sister Susan.
She is survived by her husband Joie; children Kathleen, Joie, Timothy, and Michael; son and daughters-in- law Greg, Carey, Cheryl and Shalene; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Branden, Shaun, Maeson, James, David and Ruby; three grandchildren by marriage Tony, Argi and Stella; and three great-grandchildren Michael, Makayla and Mateo.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on April 23, 2021 at Palm Mortuary Eastern; followed by burial at 12:00pm at the Veterans Memorial, Boulder City.
