Audrey was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Texarkana, Texas to her parents Lillie V. Watson and Cleophus Callahan. She was their only child and they gave her the middle name Jewel because she was such a precious gift to the family. In 1949 Audrey moved to Los Angeles, California, graduated from Jefferson High School, married and gave birth to a son Henry and a daughter Sheila. In 1956, she married the love of her life Mr. Roscoe Sullivan and from that union, two children, Roslyn and Roscoe L., were born. Audrey worked the assembly line at Sebecia Shoes, while Roscoe rose through the ranks of the United States postal service. In 1967, their entrepreneurial spirit led them to establish “Roscoe’s,” a local eatery that quickly became a community favorite. She affectionally became known as “Miss Roscoe” to her clientele, especially the students from Dorsey High School.
After many successful years of service in the community, the family moved to Las Vegas to begin their next phase of life. Audrey took a position with the Clark County School District as a crossing guard. She enjoyed her interactions with the children and took her responsibility seriously. She later transitioned into an area where she was most comfortable, food services. Audrey was an excellent cook and took great pride in her catering skills. She worked at Kinney Guinn Elementary School until her retirement.
November 23 at 5:30am, Audrey was called to heaven. Left to honor Audrey and remember her love are her husband Roscoe Sullivan, four children, Henry Ward, Sheila Sullivan, Roslyn Brooks (son-in-law, Xavier Brooks), and Roscoe L. Sullivan; four grandchildren Jeromee Sullivan, Shanley Ward, Ryan Ward, Brendalyn Audrey Brooks, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
