My condolences go out to Anthony’s family and friends. Anthony was a phenomenal writer and student. He always had really good ideas, and gave the most constructive and supportive feedback to anyone. It was a pleasure being in class with him and reading his work. Most of all, he was an amazing, inspirational friend. I admired him so much for his writing and passion. He never failed to make me laugh and smile. I’m glad I met Anthony, and I’m thankful for all the kindness and positivity he has shown me. I’ll always remember him.

RIP buddy. You always had an infectious laugh. I know you’ll make all of Heaven smile with you.

I’ve watched Anthony Aka Ton Ton  grew up from his first word to his first step and into adulthood.  Many folks have fond memories of Ton  with each carrying sadness for loss of such amazing person.  I can say I have 25 plus years of amazing memories and times with Anthony. He was my ultimate Wing man even  he was too young to even know it.  Me and Ton would cruise the 805 with his new FUBU jersey which was 3 times to large. I miss you Ton. Not day pass , 90 song playing that I not miss you kid.

For all those that loved Anthony, I’m so sorry. I was Anthony’s teacher in high school. He created such a bright spot when he entered the classroom.   He could read the room and say things that would make the class light up. Rest in peace dear Anthony.

I wanted to share a  memory I have of Anthony: One day when it was raining we were driving to work together on the way Anthony pulled over without a word and got out, I watched him give the literal jacket off his back to a homeless man sleeping on the sidewalk. When I told him how nice that was he just said “It doesn’t matter I can buy another jacket.” RIP Anthony, I’ll think about you and our memories no matter how short they were forever.

Oh,  Anthony. I wish I was a writer how you were. I followed you on Twitter for years, and then finally had the courage to connect with you and meet in person and become your friend. I know over the years we became friends on social media mostly, but I’ve shed many tears for you todays and will throughout the rest of my life.

Anthony was a gifted writer and reporter, but more than that, he was  a gifted human being. He functioned as a big brother in both a scholastic and thoroughly human sense, dispensing hugs and advice to his classmates as requested/needed.  In a group setting Anthony was always patient and encouraging, even to those whose passion for the work (and ability to execute) fell far short of his own. 

We talked almost daily about writing and the challenges facing American media. As a professor who's seen thousands of students come and go in the course of my 25 years of teaching journalism, I saw his potential as unlimited. 

Anthony had a special knack for picking the best word, not just an "OK" one, so I'll do the same in expressing how I felt about the fact that Anthony Paculan's brief life intersected with my own for a time: honored.
