Anthony “Tony” Wayne Bell, Jr., 28, was born on December 25, 1985 to Anthony and Rebecca Bell in Las Vegas, Nevada. Anthony passed away on January 31, 2014. In his youth and throughout his life, Tony was successful in everything he did. As an infant he was a contestant in the “Biggest Smile” contest; later he was even recruited to “act” in TV shows; and was even “Mr. June” in the 2009 LV Fire and Rescue (LVFR) calendar. High school is where his entrepreneurship began to blossom. He and his friend, Lorenzo, started their first business together called Ballingear Sports Wear; he ran a successful disc jockey business with input from Anthony Johns. He started a cleaning company; and most recently he planned to start another company with his brothers Ken and Derek. Tony also worked at the USPS and in the restaurant industry and sales.
With all of the accomplishments that he had, his proudest was graduating from the LVFR on December 28, 2006. He loved being a firefighter. Whenever he was asked to perform a task by his supervisors, he was eager to do so. Tony was also in the midst of continuing his education in order to have more responsibility within the LVFR.
Tony had many passions and hobbies that he enjoyed—traveling was one of them. He’d previously traveled to Europe. He enjoyed going to the beach and planned to learn to surf this summer. He wanted to visit the Great Pyramids and to see the many cultures which Africa had to offer. He was planning a vacation with his loving friend, Samantha. He was quite the athlete; enjoying tennis and handball. He also enjoyed going to the movies.
Most importantly, Tony loved his GOD. He was recently given a pair of binoculars by John Dunmire, his “bonus” dad so that he could view the celestials which are GOD’s creations. He was always encouraging others, particularly his parents and brothers. Tony was full of life and valued his family—he wanted to be all things to all people, especially being an uncle to Jamal and Eric. His beautiful smile could light up a room.
Let’s remember that vibrant young man. Let us focus on all the positive aspects that he had to offer in his life. Let us celebrate his life…he brought a lot of happiness to many lives.
