Coach Mac, 
This picture is of the two men I admire most in this world and have impacted my life and the lives of many others. Additionally, it captures two men doing what they know best, have created legacies, shared their knowledge, and coached so many. Coach Mac, your smile, ease, and demeanor made coming to the track a safe place for us girls but it was your fatherly love and friendship that you maintained afterwards and mentorship over the years that I will always remember. I am saddened that you are gone but grateful to have be graced by your presence in my life. My heartfelt condolences and prayers goes out to your beautiful family and the many people you have touched.

To Cheryl and family, Alfred was truly a wonderful person.  He was always sharing and humble with the great knowledge that he had.  I will always miss his advise and support.

This photo brings back such fond and loving memories of days past, that were full of fun, excitement and promises! I believe this group was the first time UNLV recruited an all freshman relay team! Coach I will never forget my freshman year, and how you were able to convince me to stay even when I cried everyday for the first semester to go home because I was so homesick! Coach Mac - you were the Dad I never had.  You made me dig deep and I never knew what I was capable of until you entered my life.  And what a positive impact you had on me!  And what a work ethic you instilled!  You were the best and will be so missed...Rest in Peace Coach!  There's a special place up there just for you...! Coach Mac was always kind with a great spirit. He always treated me as one of his own whenever I was around. I always enjoyed going with my Aunt Daaiyah & Coach Mac to the track events. I send my love and prayers for the family 🤍

Coach Al  McDaniels is one of nicest,respectable, persons I ever met. I wish all people on earth could have skills like his. Being understanding  patient. He was one of those coaches that made a difference in my life as a young man. He is loved by so  so many. I love Al McDaniels.

Every time I saw Al, he always has a smile on his face.  I'm sure he is smiling in heaven now. My deepest prayers and condolences.

Coach Mac and Mrs. Mcdanials have been a part of my life since my high school days . Coach took me under his wing as an 8th grader and guided me to 3 state championships and also freshman records at UNLV  which have not been broken. Mrs.  Mac  was my high school home education teacher  who also taught me too cook and made me the chef that I am today.  My wife and I have had so many years with them  and the cookies for birthdays and parties.To the family which made me their brother I love you and I am truly at a loss also. My condolences and love to you all. GOD HAS "TRULY GAINED AN ANGEL AND A GREAT MAN".

Truly sorry to hear of Al's passing.  He was without a doubt one of the good guys.  Taught with Al at UNLV since the time he joined the Physical Education staff and became the Coach of the UNLV track  team.  He was an outstanding coach who developed many world class athletes which gained him the recognition as being one of the best track coaches in the country.  Whatever Al did, he did it dignity and efficiency, whether it was coaching, teaching or playing his favorite sport golf.  My prayers are with Al, his wife, and his family during this difficult time.

We are deeply sorry to have lost a wonderful  friend as Mac. He was very kind and caring and a great golf buddy. He will be truly missed. I will keep Cheryl and family in our prayers.

I send my condolences to Coach Mac’s family. He was such a loving and caring coach. He taught me so much about the science of long jump. My kids long jump today and I teach them the same fundamentals that he taught me!
