Today we celebrate the life of Alena Yvette Jackson. As a beloved sister, a distinguished aunt, and an amazing friend. Alena was very comforting, would do something beyond your imagination, and would light up a room with her cheerful smile. She showed love, strength, and perseverance with everyone she encountered. We are grateful, thankful, and appreciative of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ for allowing him to share Alena's life of 55 years with us on earth.
Alena Yvette Jackson was born January 2, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Reverend Henry Jackson and Evangelist Annie Jackson. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Saint James Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada and demonstrated compassion and a kindhearted spirit throughout her life. She received her formal education at Rancho High School.
During most of Alena's life she worked in retail for the Gap Company for 20 years and briefly at Famous Dave's in Las Vegas. Alena was on fire for our heavenly father. She demonstrated an unwavering and faithful spirit while serving the Lord. One of her favorite songs she would sing with her mother was, " You Know My Name" She was blessed with so many talents and gifts such as singing and cooking. She always had a generous spirit and encouraged others while spreading the gospel of the good news about Jesus Christ to the world. She also attended Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alena was known for her cooking especially lasagna and hot tamales. In her spare time, she was adamant about watching movies, spending quality time with family, and getting on prayer lines and ministry channels.
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. - Philippians 4:13
God will work all things together for our good, including the closed doors, the breakups, and the failures. That’s how awesome our God is. Don’t live sour because of what didn’t work out or bitter over the person who walked away. Let it go. God has beauty for the ashes and joy for the mourning. He just needs some time. Now while you’re waiting, stay in faith. Keep doing the right thing. Keep praising when you could be complaining. Keep speaking victory in the face of defeat. We love you Alena Jackson aka "AJ" well done good and faithful servant.
Left to cherish Alena's memories is her loving brother, Henry L. ( Debbie) Jackson; her loving sisters Sandra (Walter) Berry; Frankie (Russell) Hollis; and Wanda (Johnny) Thomas; a hosts of uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews, cousins, God siblings, and friends.
Alena was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Henry Jackson, mother, Evangelist Annie Jackson, and nephew Tyrone Jackson.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. - Psalms 100.4
