Albert Evans, 95, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 15, 2012. He was born on December 25, 1916 to his father and Pauline Evans. Albert was raised with five brothers: Herbert, Frank, Ralph, Paul and Fred. As a young boy, he and his brothers were driven in a Model T Ford by his mother, Pauline, from Iowa to live in Glendale, California. When he was 17, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and helped to build roads and dams in Sequoia, California. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years. Albert married the love of his life, Edith Backer in 1937. Albert was blessed with two children, one son, Dennis and one daughter, Linda. Him and Edith raised their children in Lynwood, California. Albert proudly served during WWII in Germany and France. He returned home in 1946. Albert found pleasure in sports. His biggest passion in his whole life was sports, especially watching the Lakers and the Dodgers; and being a devoted fan watching and attending USC football games. He was married 62 years to his beloved wife and long-life companion, Edith, before she passed in 1998. Later on he was fortunate to meet Mary Davidson who became his constant companion for the past 12 years. He is survived by his children, Linda (Robert) Pirtle and Dennis (Lavonne) Evans; 6 grandchildren: Steven, Denise, Lisa, Mark, Michael and Mitchell; and 16 great-grandchildren: Mikaela, Brennan, Zachery, Sierra, Johanna, Michael, Lauren, Steven, Grace, Olivia, Reese, Evan, Dylan, Matthew, Brooke, and Joshua. A Visitation Service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012, and on Friday, December 21, 2012 there will be held a Memorial Service--both at Palm Mortuary-Eastern. Albert will be laid to rest in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. He was a "Self-Made Man" and he will be missed very much.
