Mitch, as most knew him, was a loving father and husband. He was an upstanding, kind hearted guy who would do anything to help others.
Mitch married Connie in 1980 after a whirlwind courtship of one month. They met August 23, 1980 at a country western bar. According to his wife, Connie, “he was looking might fine in his levis standing by that cigarette machine on the way to the bathroom. He did fool m though and I should have known something was amiss, Levis, but no cowboy hat, just a ball cap. He should have been wearing his USAF hat; and if he would have been, I would have turned and ran away. I had no interest in military men.”
But Mitch was such a charmer. I was hooked after that night. “By the time I found out it didn’t matter anymore.” They were married on November 1, 1980 and stayed together until Mitch left this Earth.
Mitch, as he was known by his brothers at arms, served in the USAF for 26 years. Retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant to live out the last of his years in Mesquite, NV.
Mitch enjoyed golfing with friends & family. He spent time teaching his son carpentry and he spent hours bonding over baseball cards. Mitch’s son, Steele, thinks back to some, or all, of his dad’s wisdom and laughs only to confirm that he can’t even tell us the wisdom his father passed on to him, except that it was great advice and always so inappropriate. Mitch was a stand-up guy with a great moral compass, Mitch will be missed by all those who knew him, appreciated by strangers for his service, and should be remembered by all for his kind hearted good nature.
Alan Mitchell also spent 12 years working in Las Vegas, NV for Steve Wynn’s golf course.
Mitch will be buried April 4, 2022 at 12:00 pm in the Boulder City Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. All who knew Mitch are invited to come out and pay their respects.
