Abraham David Berkovits, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly on October 13, 2024, just weeks before his 50th birthday. David’s life was defined by his sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and boundless love for those around him.
David was born November 4, 1974 in Orlando, Florida to Edward and Roslyn Berkovits. He spent his formative years in Beachwood, Ohio, where he excelled in tennis, fostered life long friendships, and perfected the art of bending the rules.
David received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications at The Ohio State University in 1998. He began his career working in real estate and information technology. Later, with the emergence of medical marijuana, David became a pioneer, working in numerous facets of the cannabis industry for over twenty years. His career took him all over the country, as well as Canada, where he opened dispensaries, managed a hemp farm, and served as a consultant, among other roles.
David was kind and thoughtful, and full of life. He cherished his family, and made friends wherever he went. He was genuine and easy-going, and could find humor and joy in the simplest moments. David was passionate about his hobbies, and the pursuit of adventure. He traveled extensively and was an avid sailor, biker, skier and hiker. He toured the country in his RV, enjoyed cruising on his Harley, and even spent a year living on a sailboat. David never missed an opportunity to try something new, pursue a challenge, or tell a good joke. Whatever the adventure, he knew how to live life to its fullest.
David is survived by his parents, Edward and Roslyn, brother Adam, sister-in-law Maria, niece Emma, nephew Jacob, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Susan, cousin Carly, and his sweetheart Delphine. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and brought kindness, warmth and laughter to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Magen David Adom, Israel’s National EMS Service, toward a Mobile ICU ambulance dedicated to David’s memory. Donations can be made at this link:
Funeral services will be held at 12PM PST, October 21, 2024 at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery in Las Vegas, NV. A livestream of the service can be found here:
