Wendy L. Stammer of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on January 27th. She was born on February 10th, 1956, in Green Bay, WI to the late Arthur Stammer and Betty Haskins and attended Southwest High School, class of 74. Thereafter, she attained her Associate’s degree from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College as a Registered Nurse. Wendy was a medical professional who dedicated her life to serving others. Her selflessness and caring nature led her down her path of nursing early in life. “Once a Nurse, Always a Nurse.” Wendy lived the first 48 years of her life in the frozen tundra of Green Bay raising her three children and working as a nurse, before moving South to the ocean air, sandy beaches and sunny weather of St. Petersburg, Florida.
For all her professional success, however, her most fulfilling accomplishment was being a mother and proud “Amma” to her grandsons. For her, family was everything. Aside from spending time with her family and grandsons she enjoyed traveling, especially visits to Siesta Key and the Keys, shelling, collecting, antiquing, shopping and cooking. She was an avid dog lover. Wendy was famous for many recipes, but well known for her key lime pie.
Wendy is survived by her loving children; Terra (Jesse) Wilhelm, Jacy (Tanya) Ryan, Ashley Ryan (Dave); grandchildren, Kai,(11) Kace,(8) Kru Wilhelm (3) and Liam (5); brother; Brian Stammer; niece, Lily Behnke-Stammer; godchild; Adam Deuchert; beloved Aunts, Georgia Kaftan, Shirley (Roger) Cherney, Lynn Beardsley; childhood best friend Robin Ball (Wayne); uncles and many cousins.
In addition to her parents Wendy is preceded in death by her best friend Gail Nelson.
She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Seminole, FL. A celebration of Wendy’s life will be announced at a later date.
“May you always have a shell in your hand, sand in your toes, and the wind at your back.”
